Dear Government of India & Indian media,
Namaste from a Nepali citizen. The purpose of the letter is to raise some relevant questions regarding the current political scenario and constitution declaration.Nepal and India share very common culture and ethnicity. Our relationship dates back a long time in history. We have lived in harmony with each other.
Namaste from a Nepali citizen. The purpose of the letter is to raise some relevant questions regarding the current political scenario and constitution declaration.Nepal and India share very common culture and ethnicity. Our relationship dates back a long time in history. We have lived in harmony with each other.
Since,my childhood,I have been listening to this interference of government of India in our matters.I didn’t understand all these at that time, but now time has passed and I am well aware of the political situation in our country.Let me jump directly to the point.I am awestruck by the response of India towards the recent Constitution declaration in Nepal.Literally, awestruck! In your words, you express your feelings of respect towards Nepal and it’s people but your action doesn’t prove the same. There are many open border countries in the world and I have not seen situation like this elsewhere. You send your ambassador/messenger to Nepal a day before the Constitution declaration, and ask /or in precise words, order our leaders to stop the process. The constitution which we have been waiting since ages,so many people died for this historical moment, after 10 years of the deadlock, finally we feel like our country has come out of this vicious circle, and you are like against it,forcing your words to our leaders.
Does that make you a good neighbor? Ask yourself. The constitution of Nepal was passed by our representatives, elected by a fair election of Constitution Assembly, the constitution was passed by 90% majority, which is itself a record,I guess in South Asia (at least). What can be a more democratic way of declaring constitution than this?Constitution making process is a progressive process.A constitution can not give cent percent satisfaction to everyone which is why there have been revolts in different places of Nepal.I agree the concern of India is the ongoing revolt in Terai/Madhesh region(not all Madhesh region,Indian Media) which shares an open border with India and there’s an upcoming election in Bihar. I well acknowledge your concern, but before asking our leaders to stop constitution declaration, did you try to ask the revolting groups to make a peaceful protest? Did you? If you can come to Kathmandu and ask our leaders to follow your steps and tell them you will not support their decision, why can’t you ask the Madhesi leaders to raise up their voice in calm way? Why?Why an urge to interfere? When the entire world including European Union,US,China etc are welcoming our constitution, why are you spilling the words of hatred? What can you possibly gain by all this?We highly appreciate your help some months back when the earthquake disaster fell upon us,we are thankful for that but we are not a “Yes Man” to agree to whatever you say or intend to command. When the people (of Nepal origin) were protesting for “Gorkhaland”,did our leaders tried to interfere saying ,”No!Government of India, you have to fulfill their demand”.Have we even for once, interfered in your political matters? How would you feel,if a leader from a greater country than yours come to your nation and say “You can’t do this,I won’t support you,”.You have enough problems in India to solve,I won’t go into the detail of all this.Let us do what’s best for us in our ways.
And Dear Indian Media, it’s not just me,a Nepali speaking up against your poor presentation of news and miserable reporting skills.Indian friends have had enough of you in the past as well, and have spoken up for this.Do you even have a dedicated research team, who actually go into the details of what’s happening?Saw a news,in one of the popular newspaper of India. It showed the pictures of protest against the constitution declaration in some parts of Nepal. But they didn’t show the “Diwali” celebrated by majority of us welcoming the constitution.Instead they throw in a random figure,40% were against the constitution declaration? Are you insane?Has your reporting skills come down to this level?Give me a proof that 40% of Nepali were against it,justify it and I will take back my words.Let me tell you on behalf of all Nepalese people,We are more than happy to welcome our constitution. It speaks for the rights of all people.Yes,there are some unsatisfied forces, but we are trying our best to reach a consensus. Not all the Madheshi, people are against the constitution.I am a Madhesi as well, but I welcome and support my constitution.I hope your reporting skills get better. If not,you will receive the words from your own people.Nothing more to say!
Thank you!
